The latest situation regarding the country’s capital market is that all activities of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will be closed for seven consecutive days on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to reliable sources from the two stock exchanges, this holiday will be effective from March 17 to March 23. In addition to the pre-scheduled Eid holiday, an additional one-day government holiday on March 18 has been declared by executive order, resulting in a total holiday period of seven days. No transactions or administrative activities will be conducted on both exchanges during this period.
It is also informed that after the holy Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the DSE and CSE will return to their normal activities as per the previous rules. Accordingly, office hours will be from 9 am to 5 pm and trading will continue from 10 am to 2:20 pm. The next 10 minutes, i.e. from 2:20 pm to 2:30 pm, will be the post-closing session.
It is to be noted that regular trading and office activities will resume at both stock exchanges from March 24, after the Eid holidays.
