The remittance sector has set a new milestone in the country’s economy. Bangladesh set a record in expatriate income in March this year, with a maximum of 3.75 billion US dollars in one month.
According to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank, this achievement in March 2026 has broken all past records. Previously, the highest remittances were 3.29 billion dollars in March 2025 and 3.22 billion dollars in December 2025.
This unprecedented growth indicates stability and positive trends in the country’s economy. Especially since the political changes in late 2024, a continuous upward trend has been observed in the remittance flow.
Despite the instability in the global market and the ongoing unrest in various regions of the Middle East, this strong flow of money sent by expatriate Bangladeshis is giving a new boost to the country’s economy.
Experts say that this positive change has come as a result of increasing incentives to send remittances through legal channels, strengthening surveillance, and policy reforms.
Central bank officials said that the emphasis on bringing foreign income into the country through formal banking channels is strengthening foreign exchange reserves and restoring stability to the overall financial sector.
