Bangladesh’s Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) held an “End-user Training on the RegTech System” for life insurance companies at its headquarters in Dhaka.

The session was inaugurated by IDRA Chairman Dr. M. Aslam Alam.

Representatives from all life insurers attended, alongside IDRA members and IT specialists, with the goal of ensuring sector-wide, effective use of the regulator’s RegTech platform. The report was published on 14 October 2025 by Bank Bima Ortho News.

Why it

“RegTech” refers to technology-driven compliance tools that streamline regulatory reporting and oversight. Research finds RegTech investments can improve compliance outcomes (e.g., fewer customer complaints and misconduct) while changing firms’ cost structures and market dynamics—context that helps explain why IDRA is training end-users before wider rollout.

Related background

IDRA has been pursuing sector automation and data-driven supervision, with planning documents noting ongoing capacity-building for staff and stakeholders to use new IT/MIS applications—consistent with the current RegTech push.
